Using Video Note in Assignment Instructions

D2L Brightspace Video Note is used for quick, embedded video recordings. Instructors leverage it for announcements, personalized feedback, and engaging content. Students use it for video assignments and discussions, enhancing interaction and presence within the course.

If you are creating a new assignment you can skip to step 3.

1. From your Homepage select Tools in the Navbar, then click "Assignments".

2. Beside the Assignment you wish add video instructions click the drop-down arrow and select 'Edit Assignment'.

3. Click on "Record Video" or the "Insert Stuff" icon to open a new pop-up.

Using Record Video adds the video as an attachment, using the Insert Stuff icon embeds the video into the instructions. You can use both attachments and embedded videos at the same time.

4. If using "Record Video":

Click on "New Recording", and proceed to record yourself as needed.

Click "Stop Recording" then click "Add".

Enter in the desired Title, Description and Language, then click "Add".

PCC recommends always have videos auto generate captions.

You should now see the video attached, click "Save and Close".

4. If using "Insert Stuff" icon:

From the Insert Stuff window click on "Add Video Note"

Click on "New Recording", and proceed to record yourself as needed.

Click "Stop Recording" then click "Next".

Enter in the desired Title, Description and Language, then click "Next".

Click on "Insert".

You do not need to wait for a video to finish processing to click Insert.

The "Insert" button is highlighted on the "Add Video Note" screen.

You will now see the video is embedded in the HTML text box, click "Save and Close".

A video player is embedded under "Instructions" on the assignment editing page, and the "Save and Close" button is highlighted.
