Creating Videos in the Media Library

1. From anywhere in D2L, select the gear icon in the upper right then click 'Media Library'.

2. From the Media Library homepage, select 'Add Assets'.

In the Media Library, the user clicks the “Add Assets” button to upload media files.

3. On the Add Assets page, click 'Record Video'.

The “Add Assets” window offers options to record audio, record video. Record Video is highlighted.

4. Click on 'Start Recording' or 'Screen Share'.

  • During recording you can 'Pause' at any time if needed.
  • You can toggle back and forth between screen sharing and recording a video of yourself by clicking 'Screen Share', and 'Stop Sharing' respectively.
  • If you wish to start over you can click 'Restart'.

5. Click 'Finish Recording'.

6. Name your video, add a description if needed, then click 'Save and Close'.

We recommend using the 'Caption Settings' to create auto generated captions for students.

Click Generate Captions, select the language from the drop box, then click Done.

7. You will see a pop-up saying it is Uploading.

8. When the video has finished uploading, it will show as 'Processing'. Once completed, it will show 'Video' and the date. Your video can now be added to courses or edited.
