Creating a “Welcome to the Class” Content Page

Updated on

This is a guide to creating and editing the "Welcome to the Class!" content page! If the course has been cloned from the course skeleton, there should be a 'Welcome to the Class!' page already displayed that you can edit/alter in order to fit the needs of your course.

If you do not see the page as shown in the below image, please use the 'Creating a "Welcome to the Class!" content page' checklist.

Customizing the "Welcome to the Class" Content Page

1. Once you have a blank Welcome Content Page, begin by changing the name of the course, adding a description of the course, why it's important, why it's relevant to their major, why they need this class, etc. It's a good time to give the class some personality, talk about how you want them to be successful, how you're available, and anything else you might think of!

2. If you wish to remove the place holder video on this page, simply move your cursor to the space before the video and press the 'delete' key on your keyboard. Remove the text 'Course Navigation Video' as well to delete the space.

3. To replace this video with an embedded link, delete the placeholder video but keep the space. Click on the 'Insert Stuff' icon once the placeholder is gone.

4. Scroll down to the 'Enter Embed Code' option, then copy/paste the embedded code from Loom, YouTube, or other site into the text box. This embed code can be found via the 'sharing' button on YouTube or Loom.

Pressing the keys 'ctrl' and 'z' will undo any actions you've made.
