About
Adding a component to the Common Syllabus Template (CST) will allow you to lock it. If the component is locked the syllabus editors (instructors) will not be able to edit it. The added component will appear in all of the CRN syllabifor that course. For example, adding a component and locking it in the PAR 290 CST level will make it appear in all of the PAR 290 CRN syllabi. Below are instructions on how to add a component and the different settings for it.
Select the text box and type or paste the information. Use the Simple Syllabus: Toolbar Features in a Component or the Simple Syllabus: Adding, Replacing, and Removing Images if needed.
Copying and pasting may cause accessibility and formatting issues.
The "Display/Hide Name" (1) checkbox determines if the component name will display on the syllabi. By default, the display name is visible. To hide the component name, remove the check. The "Visible/ Hidden" (2) slider determines if the component will display on published syllabi. The "Public/ Private" (3) slider determines which users the component will be visible to. Components set to public will be viewable within the Syllabus Library. Components set to private will be only accessible to authorized users such as, approvers, instructors, and students. The "Delete component " (4) setting deletes the component permanently. It cannot be restored! The "Editors" (5) checkbox determines who will have the ability to edit and make changes to the component. By default, the box is not checked. If you want instructors to be able to make changes to the component, check the box. The "Help text" (6) is used to enter custom text to help guide or instruct the end-user as they edit the component. Help text can be formatted and can include links, videos, and images.
Public does not mean the general public. Pima has a login authentication requirement.
Use the Simple Syllabus: Adding, Reordering, and Deleting Components to reorder the newly added component.
