About
Editable components have settings and Help Text that Template Editors can change. The following guide will explain the settings and what should not be changed. It will also show how and why certain settings and Help Text can be modified. You will not be able to edit nor change the settings and Help Text of locked components.
The "Option/Required" (1) toggle determines if instructors are required to include the component on their syllabi. The component will need to be completed before faculty can submit their syllabus. If the toggle is grayed out, the component is required per the PCC-level template and cannot be made optional.
The "Visible/Invisible" (2) toggle determines if a component will appear on published syllabi. If the toggle is grayed out, the component is required per the PCC-level template and cannot be made invisible.
The "Public/Private" (3) toggle should not be changed. Public does not mean the general public. Pima has a login authentication requirement. If it is set to "Private" then ONLY the instructor and enrolled students will be able to see the component. The Approvers will not be able to see it. If the toggle is grayed out, the component is required per the PCC-level template and cannot be made private.
The "Lock" (4) icon will lock the component, so lower lever (CST and CRN) syllabi editors cannot change it. It is recommended to change the "Help Text" if you lock the component.
The "Lock" setting will lock the component, so lower lever (CST and CRN) syllabi editors cannot change it. It is recommended to change the "Help Text" if you lock the component.
The "Override" setting will replace any existing content on any lower level (CST and CRN) syllabi. Any edits made by other users will be erased.
The "Auto-Import" setting controls whether content is automatically carried forward from a previous term. NOT recommended.
The "Help text" is visible to CST and CRN level editors and can be used to clarify the source of information within components. Help text should only be changed if you locked a component that would be edited by CST and/or CRN level editors (the faculty teaching the course) and you would like to avoid confusion.
