Importing a component into a Common Syllabus Template (CST) is helpful, so you can reuse it in the following term. The following instructions show how to import a component using the import tool in Simple Syllabus. You can only import from your own CST.
Importing a component will overwrite any existing information within that component. Be aware the PCC Syllabus Template changes once every Academic Year.
Any components that CST editors can edit are also editable by CRN-level editors. CST editors cannot lock those components. Please communicate with your faculty if you add information that should be retained.
Select the “Import” button from the Common Syllabus Template (CST) you want to import into.
In the search criteria (1), populate the search fields relevant to the course you are importing from such as, "Term", "Subject", "Course number", and/or "Instructor" name. Select the syllabus (2) to copy from.
Look under the syllabus term and title to identify what type of syllabus is available to import (2).
Select the “Advanced (select content to import)” (1) toggle. From the drop down menu, select the title of the "target content" (2) to import into next to the "source content" (3) to import from.
The PCC Syllabus Template changes once every Academic Year. For example, the AI Statement component has been updated every year. Importing a component will overwrite any existing information within that component. Make sure you are only importing a CST from the same Academic Year.
Select “Do not import” in the drop-down menu next to the components you do not wish to import into.
Select the “Finalize” button.
Verify the component(s) selected (1) to import from and into are accurate. Select the “Start import of the following content” (2) button.
Select the “Close” button. The page will refresh and the import will complete.
Congratulations, you have successfully imported components!
