About
Syllabus Approver role is assigned in Simple Syllabus by Faculty Services based on a division’s leadership structure or by request. All syllabi must be approved through the workflow process before being published in D2L for student to access. This includes syllabi that have been revised after an initial approval. When a syllabus is submitted for approval, it will sent to the Approver for review. Approvers who have a syllabus awaiting their approval will receive an email notification.
There may be multiple Approvers for a Division/Department. Communication between Approvers is key to make sure there is no confusion on which syllabi to approve.
After reviewing the syllabus, it can be approved or rejected with comments. Select the "Approve" (1) button to approve it. Approving the syllabus will publish it, making it accessible to the students registered in the course. Select the drop-down arrow (2), to access the "Reject" (3) button. The syllabus can only be rejected after an "Internal Comment" (4) has been added. The instructor will receive an email notification after a syllabus has been approved or rejected.
Comments will display in the History feed and be available to anyone with editing access to the syllabus. Use the Simple Syllabus: Viewing the History of a Syllabus guide, if needed.
Select the "Close" button once it is approved or rejected. If you close the syllabus before approving or rejecting it, it will remain in the "To Do" column.
A Syllabus can be edited until the last day of the term. It will need to be submitted for approval and approved before the changes will reflect for the students. After the term syllabi will be archived in the Simple Syllabus Library.
