Panopto: Using Panopto for D2L Discussions

1. Locate and select the Panopto Access link within your D2L course.

2. You will be launched into Panopto. This will automatically activate your Panopto account and provide you access to the Panopto Assignments folder for this course.

4. Start a new thread or reply to a post and this will bring up the text box with the rich text editor. On the HTML editor bar, select the Insert Stuff option. This will open a pop-up window.

5. On the Insert Stuff pop-up window, select the Panopto Embed option.

6. The next window will provide you with three options of how you can insert your Panopto video:

Choose a Panopto video from your Panopto folders to insert.
Upload a video to your Panopto folder to insert.
Record a video to your Panopto folder to then insert into the discussion post.

Choose the way that you want to insert your Panopto video below to get instructions on that specific process.

For the Upload and Record options, you will need to select the Panopto Assignment folder for your D2L course. To do this select the drop menu arrow on the far right and select the drop-down arrow to the right of the Brightspace D2L Parent Folder under the All folders option. Finally, select the drop-down arrow to the left of the folder that has the name of your D2L course, and then select the folder that has the same name as your D2l course and the [assignments] tag at the end.

Choose Video from Panopto to Insert

6.1. Under the Choose tab of the Insert Stuff Panopto Embed pop-up window, select the radial button of the video you want to insert from your Panopto folder. Then, select Insert.

6.2. You will be taken to a preview window of your video being inserted into the discussion post. Select Insert to finalize the video embed

6.3. You will be taken to a preview window of your video being inserted into the discussion post. Select Insert to finalize the video embed.

Congrats! You can now add more to your post and then select Post when you are finished with your discussion post.

Upload Video to Panopto to Insert

6.1. Select Upload and then select the Choose video or audio files box.

6.2. Select the file you would like to upload and wait for it to upload and process.

6.4. You will be taken to a preview window of your video being inserted into the discussion post. Select Insert to finalize the video embed

6.5. Congrats! You can now add more to your post and then select Post when you are finished with your discussion post.

Record a Video in Panopto Capture to Insert

6.1. Select the Record tab and then select the Launch Capture button

6.2. Record your video using Panopto Capture in your browser

The detail on how to record your video with Panopto Capture can be found on How to Create a Video Using Panopto Capture. Start with Step 2, Select a Microphone. Please return to the Discussions tab in your browser once your video has been recorded and Panopto indicates the video is ready.

6.3. Upon returning to the Discussion tab after recording your video, select Insert.

6.4. You will then be taken to a Preview page of your embedded video. Select Insert to finalize the embedding of the video.

6.5. Congrats! You can now add more to your post and then select Post when you are finished with your discussion post.
