Perusall: Releasing and Unreleasing Scores to Students

Releasing student grades for an assignment in Perusall allows students to view their grades and any grade feedback directly within the Perusall tool. Unreleasing the grades will take away the ability for students to see their grades and feedback in Perusall. The grade for the Perusall assignment that gets pushed to the D2L gradebook depends on how you have set up your Perusall course. By default, Perusall automatically grades students' assignments and then pushes these grades to the D2L gradebook upon the assignment's due date. Step by Step Instructions

Releasing Scores

1. Once in your Perusall course, navigate to the gradebook using the Gradebook option amongst the upper left-hand options.

2. Locate the assignment for which you want to release the grades. Then, select the Release to Students button at the bottom of the same column as the assignment.

3. Select the OK button on the pop-up window to complete the Unrelease action.

Congrats! Your students will now be able to access the Perusall gradebook and see their score and any comments/feedback left for them for this particular assignment.

Unreleasing Scores

Perusall currently only allows all released assignment scores to be unreleased simultaneously. You cannot choose specific assignments to unrelease; it is an all-or-nothing option.

1. Once in your Perusall course, navigate to the gradebook using the Gradebook option amongst the upper left-hand options.

2. Locate and select the Unrelease all grades button at the top of your Perusall gradebook.

3. Select the OK button on the pop-up window to complete the Unrelease action.

Congratulations! Students will no longer be able to see their scores in the Perusall gradebook. However, they will still see any grades that have already been pushed to the D2L gradebook.
