Perusall: Searching Within a Document

Updated on

About

In a Perusall document (or any reading material) there might be times that you want to search for specific words or phrases. Utilize the search feature to get the best interactive experience with your document.

Note: To search, you can also press Cmd+F(on Mac) or Ctrl+F(on Windows)

Image of a Perusall document assignment. Navigating towards the bottom right of the student interactive tools, the Search icon is highlighted in red with an arrow indicating to select it.
  • Place a + between words to only show sections that contain the specific words.
  • Place a - before a word to only show sections that don't contain the specific words. (e.g.,chicken tacos -burgers).
  • Use quotations to search for an exact phrase ("Dog Encyclopedia").
  • Use a * at the end of a word to show sections that start with the specific words (e.g.,math* would match "math" or "mathematics" but not "polymath".)
  • Place a vertical bar | if you want one or the other word to show.

You are done. Great job!
