Perusall: Starting Conversations with Classmates

When a document is opened, there will be various highlighted sections with corresponding commentary on the right side of the Perusall assignment. This is where the large portion of conversational interactions will be held.

Tips to Navigating Student Conversations

Highlighted annotations

Yellow highlighted comments are from you or other students, and blue is from the instructor.

Responding to Comments

Use the @ symbol to notify specific students that you have a question or annotation about their response.

Annotations for Images (not only text)

By default, Perusall allows you to annotate the text of a document. If you want to pin a particular part of an image on the document, then the image annotator is available as show below:
