Perusall: Recommended Syllabus Language

Updated on

About

The recommended language below may need to be adapted based on your course needs and how you will use Perusall. Feel free to use this language in your syllabus and adjust it for your needs.

In this course you will utilize a technology tool called Perusall to engage deeply with the materials in this course as well as with your peers in your course. Perusall is a social annotation tool which allows you to make high-quality comments on a course material including articles, textbook chapters, podcasts, and videos. You can respond to your classmates and drive the discussion for our course.  Participating in Perusall discussions in this course will be an important key to achieving our course outcome to [INSERT LEARNING OUTCOME] by [INSERT LEARNED SKILL].

Grading will be based on the following criteria: [INSERT GRADING CRITERIA]. In each module you will be expected to complete [INSERT NUMBER OF ANNOTATIONS] and [INSERT NUMBER OF REPLIES].

This tool is fully integrated with D2L and doesn't require any additional sign on information. Simply select the Perusall link found in the Content module [INSERT MODULE NAME].

Perusall functions best within Chrome or Firefox--please make sure your device and browsers are up to date.

If you are having trouble using this tool, you can view Perusall support articles or reach out to the ALT Team for support.

Consider assigning the Perusall created assignment "Making the most of learning with Perusall" to help students familiarize themselves with the platform.
