About
Before you submit your syllabus, you must complete the following items, then follow the step-by-step instructions for submitting a syllabus.
Completion Checklist
The items listed below are not specific to any department and are general components from the college's template. Refer to help text in each editable component for guidance.
For assistance with completing this component, see our guide entitled, Simple Syllabus: Completing the Instructor Information Component.
For more assistance with the textbook components, see the following guides.
Be sure to pick and/or modify which statement best fits your class, then delete the list number to the left of the statement you choose. You may also decide to delete all existing choices and add your own statement. Refer to the help text for guidance.
For more information on the Generative AI component, please see Simple Syllabus: Completing the AI Statement Component guide.
If there are accessibility issues, there will be an orange dot with a number inside it on the top-right corner of the button, as seen in the image below. Click on the Accessibility Checker button the lower-right corner to resolve any issues.
It is NOT mandatory (unless otherwise stated by your direct supervisor) for you to resolve any and all accessibility issues. The Simple Syllabus system will allow you to submit the syllabus for approval with accessibility issues.
For more information on how to use the Accessibility Checker, see the Simple Syllabus: Resolving Accessibility Issues guide.
Before submitting your syllabus, check for any warnings of uncompleted components. Warnings are located at the very bottom of the syllabus next to the orange warning exclamation point (1). When you click the warning message or symbol, a side panel appears with the first warning. Click and complete each warning link (2) until there are no more warnings.
It is strongly advised to preview your syllabus when all components are completed. To preview your syllabus, click the blue "preview button" on the bottom-left side of the syllabus. Preview view is what students will see when they access a Simple Syllabus.
For more info about previewing, see Simple Syllabus: Previewing the Syllabus.
It is not advised to copy either link or the embed code, as this version of the syllabus is not yet approved.
Your syllabus will then appear in the "Awaiting Approval" column of the Simple Syllabus dashboard, and will be routed to your syllabus approver. You can refer back to the syllabus dashboard and edit, view, preview, print, or share the syllabus as needed. However, this version of the syllabus is not approved yet and it is advised not to share this version until you have confirmation of approval.
Congratulations! You have submitted your syllabus!
You are done. Great job!
