H5P: Determining the Accessibility of H5P Content Types

Updated on

About

There are various content types that H5P offers for instructors. However, there are a select few that are not fully accessible. The goal is to have all content we create with H5P to be fully accessible. As such we have remove the creation option for inaccessible content types from our pima.h5p.com site. This means any content you create through our Pima H5P site license is accessible. These content types have gone through multiple tests including but not limited to:

  • Screen readers
  • Keyboard navigation
  • Zooming
  • Code inspection
  • Etc

Note: Alternative text must be use for all images and captions provided for audio. Additionally, the Drag and Drop content type must have visible labels for dropzones and draggables to be fully accessible.

If you bring in content from outside our Pima H5P site license, then there is no guarantee on the level of support each content type will exhibit. For more information on content type accessibility please see the H5P article: Content types recommendations.
