About
H5P is a simple and easy to use HTML tool to create formative learning activities that can then be integrated into D2L or embedded in other sources. There is an expansive array of templates to choose from that are easy to customize for your specific needs. In this tutorial, we will walk through how to create a simple flashcard activity. However, each individual content in H5P has a tutorial and multiple examples to help learn each type.
Prerequisite
- Have a H5P account set up by the ALT Team. If you don't already, please reach out to [email protected] to set up your account
- Be signed in to pima.h5p.com.
Step-by-step Instructions
- Once inside your H5P dashboard, navigate to Add Content in the top left or right of the screen.
- Navigate to your desired content type or search for your desired content type in the Search for Content Types box. For this example, we will be using the Flashcards option.
- Name your content using naming conventions (this is what will populate to the D2L gradebook) and include a task description for students.
- Follow the instructions on screen and create your Question and Answer portion of the flashcard. In the Answer portion, use the pipe symbol to include alternative solutions such as possible misspellings.
- If you include a photo, be sure to add the ALT text for accessibility reasons. See Guidelines for Creating ALT Text.
- Continue to select Add Card and follow the same steps until you have completed all your desired cards.
To aid in creating any type of content, each content type has a tutorial and example linked at the top of the content. Please use this resource to aid in creating other types of content.
Adjusting Settings
Below the content creation in each content type, there will be settings options that are unique to that content type, as well as a settings section that is the same for each content.
Unique Settings
The flashcard content type has a few settings that can be changed. You can disable Requiring user input before the solution can be viewed. You can also choose to enable Case Sensitive and Randomize Cards.
Settings available in all content types
Please see H5P: Editing Settings to review these settings.
