Packback Questions: Adding Guide Posts

Updated on

About

Students will not be able to respond to guide posts, so you can use them to provide clear instructions and expectations without having to worry about student comments. When you set a guide post, it will be pinned to the top of your community feed in your assignment. This will help your students easily find the post and refer to it as they work towards the deadline. Each assignment may have its own guide post. Guide Posts are not required, but are strongly encouraged.

Example Guide Post

Title: Pop Culture Versus High Culture

Guide Post: As our readings for this module have made clear, there has been a growing debate about the value of pop culture compared to high culture. Some people argue that pop culture is simply a form of entertainment that is not as valuable as high culture, which is seen as more artistic and intellectually stimulating. Others argue that pop culture is just as valuable as high culture, and that it can be just as influential in shaping society.

For this module's discussion focus your questions on the debate of pop culture versus high culture.

I encourage you to bring in images, videos, news articles, social media posts, etc. to the arguments you make. Be sure to cite any ideas and/or sources that are not your own.
