Packback Questions: Recommended Syllabus Language

Updated on

About

The recommend language below may need to be adapted based on your course needs and how you will use Packback Questions. Feel free to use this language in your syllabus and adjust it for your needs.

In this course you will utilize a technology tool called Packback to engage with your classmates through discussions aimed at achieving our course learning outcomes. Packback flips the traditional classroom discussion by having students create discussion questions instead of instructors. You and your classmates will learn together by focusing on what you find interesting about the topics in our class. You will be creating discussion questions, supporting those questions with your thoughts and evidence, and then engaging with other students' discussion questions by replying to their thoughts and ideas. Participating in Packback discussions in this course will be an important key to achieving our course outcome to [INSERT LEARNING OUTCOME] by [INSERT LEARNED SKILL].

Grading will be based on the following criteria: [INSERT GRADING CRITERIA] In each module you will be expected to complete [INSERT NUMBER OF POSTS] and [INSERT NUMBER OF REPLIES].

This tool is fully integrated with D2L and doesn't require any additional sign on information. Simply select the Packback link found in the Content module [INSERT MODULE NAME].

Packback functions best within Chrome or Firefox--please make sure your device and browsers are up to date.

If you are having trouble using this tool, you can view Packback support articles or reach out to the ALT Team for support.

Consider using a first “practice” assignment to help students familiarize themselves with the Packback platform.
