Using D2L Templates

Updated on

1. To use the templates on D2L, you must first enable them first. In order to do this, navigate to a module in the contents section of a course. Locate the 'Settings' cogwheel/gear icon, and click on it.

2. Once selected, find the 'Content Authoring' section and click on the checkbox next to the 'Enable HTML Templates' option. Click on the 'Save' option on the bottom left of the pop-up window.

3. Once this is enabled, add a new file by clicking 'Upload/Create,' and 'Create a File.'

4. Locate the 'Select a Document Template' button on the top right of the page.

5. By clicking this button, a list of different templates are now shown. You can click on different ones to see different banners on the templates, and pick one that you think suits your class/one you like.

6. You can edit the different paragraphs and sections by either typing new information or by copying/pasting new information. Remember to paste as 'plain text' when pasting different sized fonts/large sections of text, so the formatting and code does not become excessive. When you are satisfied with the look of your new course page, click the 'Save and Close' button to save your changes.

Congratulations! You now can use templates of your web pages!
